The Multi Role Helicopter Rapid Replacement Project will acquire 40 UH-60M Black Hawks as a proven and mature utility helicopter to replace Army’s current fleet of MRH90 Taipans.
LAND 4503 Phase 1 Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter Replacement will acquire 29 AH-64E Apache helicopters to replace the ARH Tiger.
The aircraft and supporting systems are being acquired through Foreign Military Sales arrangements with the United States Government. This includes:
The Tactical Uncrewed Aerial System Project (LAND129 Phase 3) will replace the RQ-7B Shadow 200 Tactical Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS) with a new UAS that supports the tactical level intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance requirements of Army’s Combat Brigades.
Insitu Pacific has been selected to deliver the new UAS known as the Integrator. Insitu Pacific will supply:
The Improved Embarked Logistics Support Helicopter Project (SEA9100 Phase 1) will expand and rationalise the Royal Australian Navy’s support and logistics helicopter fleet through the Foreign Military sales acquisition of additional MH-60R Seahawk helicopters.
The Project will acquire 12 helicopters for operation on the Navy Amphibious and Afloat Support fleet. An additional helicopter will also be acquired to remediate a fleet loss on operations in October 2021, expanding the MH-60R fleet to 36 in total.
As a component to the Australian Defence Force’s (ADF) Integrated Air and Missile Defence Program, the Medium Range Ground Based Air Defence project will deliver a ground-based, middle-layer, area air defence capability, designed to deter, deny and/or defeat air and missile threats.
The system will be designed to operate both independently or while integrated with other elements of the ADF Integrated Air and Missile Defence capability and will counter a range of current and emerging air and missile threats.
The Defence Strategic Review describes an enhanced, all-domain Integrated Air and Missile Defence capability as critical to the Australian Defence Force (ADF).
A foundational element of Defence’s Integrated Air and Missile Defence capability is the Joint Air Battle Management System being delivered under project AIR6500 Phase 1.
The Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEWC) "Wedgetail" aircraft gathers information from a wide variety of sources, analyses it, and distributes it to all friendly air and surface assets. The Airborne Early Warning & Control aircraft controls the tactical battlespace, providing direction for fighter aircraft, surface combatants and land-based elements, as well as supporting aircraft such as tankers and intelligence platforms. It is a 'force multiplier' in many Defence and National tasks, enhancing the effectiveness of other capabilities.
AIR 8000 Phase 2 was approved to replace the retired Caribou capability and provide the Australian Defence Force (ADF) with an enhanced intra-theatre and regional airlift capability through acquisition of a fleet of ten Light Tactical Fixed Wing aircraft. The C-27J Spartan is based on the original Alenia G-222 design, re-engineered with modern engines and avionics and can operate in remote and austere environments with a useful payload, range, in-theatre survivability and ability to operate from rudimentary airstrips.
The Australian Government approved AIR 6000 Phase 2A/2B to acquire 72 F-35A Lightning II aircraft, also known as the Joint Strike Fighter, along with associated weapons, spares, support equipment, and infrastructure.
Australia’s F-35A fleet has replaced the F/A-18A/B Hornets. The F-35A Lightning II, in concert with F/A-18F Super Hornet and E/A-18G Growler, is a potent air combat capability mix that provides the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) with critical air combat power to meet Australia’s needs beyond 2030.
AIR5077 Phase 5A is an approved project intended to assure the E-7A Wedgetail’s near term ongoing capability requirements by fitting mandatory military and civil compliance upgrades. Key systems being upgraded include:
