The Centre for Defence Research (CDR) is the research and strategic thought leadership centre of the Australian War College, which is the Australian Defence Force's premier provider of joint professional military education.

CDR advances Defence's understanding of contemporary and emerging strategic challenges through rigorous research, analysis and professional engagement, strengthening Australia's ability to anticipate and respond to an increasingly complex security environment.

CDR fosters critical thinking and informed debate on issues of national and international significance. Through its academic programs, research initiatives, and outreach activities, CDR connects military and Australian government personnel, academics, industry leaders, and regional partners to examine the strategic, technological, geopolitical, and societal forces shaping Australia's future defence posture.
