Soldier to represent Australia on world stage

11 July 2024

Lance Corporal Kizanne Mulder’s talent and passion for Futsal has resulted in her selection on the Australian women’s Futsal team, which will play in the International Woman’s Futsal Cup of Nations 2024 in the US in August.

They will compete against teams from countries including the US, Canada, Argentina and Mexico.

The 10th Force Support Battalion marine specialist has only been playing Futsal for five years, but with the support of her unit and the Elite Sports Defence Program, Lance Corporal Mulder has been able to maximise her potential on the field.

“I’ve always played sports since I was little but when I was introduced to Futsal I knew this game was my passion,” Lance Corporal Mulder said.

“I am so excited about the selection and the opportunity to represent my country playing a sport I love.

“My unit has been very supportive, allowing me to take the time I need to train and compete, between official tasks and deployments, and if it wasn’t for this support I probably wouldn’t have made it this far.

“The Elite Sports Defence Program was a great support as well; they helped me through the selection process, getting to nationals and created a healthy balance between work commitments and training.”

The program focuses on the application process and management of Army’s recognised elite sports people, maximising the potential of personnel.
