The Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) Mustangs women’s netball team recently competed in the grand final at the Lyneham Netball Association in Canberra.
The team relished in the opportunity to play in the grand final for the first time, where they won career-lasting friendships.
The culture and environment of the ADFA Mustangs has meant team members such as Midshipman Caitie Hilliard continue to come back and play season after season.
“I’ve made some really good friends playing with this team while enhancing my netball skills,” Midshipman Hilliard said.
For trainee officers, netball provides an opportunity to represent ADFA and the ADF while creating networks that will last a career, no matter the service or job role.
Team coach Wing Commander Jacqui Carswell has been involved with the ADFA Mustangs for four years.
“It gives me great joy to see the development of our future leaders,” Wing Commander Carswell said.
“The team created a positive culture of support while striving to be the best they can be.
“The confidence and belief in themselves gained through ADFA netball is worth all the hard work.”
