The Australian Defence Strategic Sales Office (ADSSO) is a joint Australian Government and defence industry initiative, established to support Australian defence industry to:

  • identify international markets and develop targeted campaign plans
  • leverage international acquisitions
  • coordinate whole-of-Government and industry efforts
  • support through-life sustainment opportunities.

Drawing on the frontline experience of industry representatives, ADSSO aims to strengthen Australia’s sovereign defence industrial base by supporting critical capability development and sustaining essential skills.

By enabling sales to priority partners, ADSSO, in consultation with key stakeholders, helps deepen defence relationships and supports the delivery of world leading capabilities.

ADSSO works in collaboration with:

Jindalee Operational Radar Network

The state-of-the-art defence system provides wide-area surveillance at ranges of 1,000 to 3,000 kilometres and plays a vital role in supporting the Australian Defence Force’s air and maritime operations, border protection, disaster relief and rescue operations.

Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) works by refracting high-frequency electromagnetic waves off the ionosphere to ‘see’ objects thousands of kilometres away that are invisible to conventional radars because of the curvature of the earth.

The Australian Government is actively exporting opportunities to expand JORN to provide wide area surveillance of Australia’s eastern approaches.

JORN is a development between BAE Systems Australia and the Australian Government.
