Overview
The aim of the Facilities to support Long Range Fires Phase 1 project is to deliver new and upgraded facilities to enable the Australian Defence Force to provide a scalable, rapidly deployable, and potent land-based Long Range Fires capability which will enhance the Joint Force’s engagement of potential adversaries.
Community information
Defence recognises the importance of providing local residents, statutory authorities and other interested stakeholders with an opportunity to provide input into, or raise concerns relating to, the project.
As part of Defence’s ongoing community consultation strategy, Federal and State Parliamentary members, local office holders and other stakeholders will be consulted on the proposed works. Defence will provide project information sessions and communication details to allow the community an opportunity to find out about the project and ask questions of Defence representatives.
Once referred to the Parliamentary Works Committee (PWC), PWC will invite the public to make submissions in relation to the project. Further information will be available on the PWC page.
Concentrations of contaminants on the proposed site for the new facilities at Edinburgh Defence Precinct have been assessed and are considered not to pose an unacceptable risk to human health during the construction period or during the proposed use of the site. There are no noise impacts associated with the scope of works.
Appropriate control measures to manage noise, contamination or hazardous materials will be implemented during construction in accordance with Defence’s Pollution Prevention Management Manual, Defence Contamination Management Manual and State Legislation.
