Intellectual Property

Companies seeking to market their product domestically or overseas must think strategically. One of the most important issues is to decide what markets you wish to pursue then seek advice on how best to protect your rights in those specific markets. The preferred protection measures may be different for different markets and companies should remain conscious of Intellectual Property (IP) issues as potential markets emerge.

Companies are encouraged to seek professional advice from an IP specialist on how to best protect your rights.

The Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) Legal Branch is available to provide preliminary IP advice to any small to medium enterprise considering marketing defence related products. CASG Legal is also available to conduct information sessions to industry, free of charge. CASG Legal can be contacted at intellectualproperty@defence.gov.au
Further information can be found via the IP Australia website www.ipaustralia.gov.au.
