RAAF Williams – Laverton was established in 1925. Headquarters Air Force Training Group, the ADF School of Languages and the Defence International Training Centre is located at the site. This site will be partially divested to retain the critical capability, with the exact portions to be finalised through the divestment process.

This section of the site contains a golf course and vacant land. Government will engage with existing tenants as part of the divestment process.

Child care centre services will be retained within the Base.

Functions

RAAF Williams – Point Cook is the birthplace of the Australian Flying Corps and its successor, the Royal Australian Air Force. It was established in 1913 as the location for the Central Flying School.

The site provides office space, an active airfield, a RAAF Museum, repository and a venue Cadet training.

There is ongoing maintenance of heritage buildings including painting and reroofing of unused married quarters.

Established in the 1870s, Newland Barracks is located in the City of Geelong. The site has been in continuous use by military volunteers, Army and the Army Reserves. The historic buildings have been adaptively repurposed for multiple uses.

The site serves as an Army Reserves training and Cadets training facility.

Latchford Barracks is one of the 4 garrisons within the Albury-Wodonga Military Area. The Barracks is located approximately 10km away from the other garrisons and was originally built as a personnel staging camp during World War II.

This site serves as office space, logistics, live‑in accommodation, and provides field training areas, a simulation training centre and Army Reserves training facility.

Established in the 1860’s, overlooking the shipping lanes to Melbourne, the fort was built to defend the entrance of Port Phillip Bay. It is now a preserved heritage site used for administration, archiving, historical research and the Fort Queenscliff Museum.

The site provides administrative functions, museum and Cadet training. Government will engage with existing tenants as part of the divestment process.

This site is approximately 10 km from Melbourne central business district. Defence Site Maribyrnong was historically used for a range of explosives manufacturing, laboratory research and equipment and material testing between its establishment in 1908 and closure in 2005. This site is currently undergoing divestment.

Defence Site Maribyrnong was added to the public divestment list in 2010. This site has been vacant since 2006.

Functions

This site is located approximately 1.5 km northeast of Melbourne’s central business district. The site includes 2 buildings comprising of offices.

The site serves as office space and training facility for Army Reserves, including the University of Melbourne regiment.

This site is located on the south-west corner of Victoria Barracks Melbourne. The Clinic is a two-storey heritage building built in 1937 for repatriation outpatient care for veterans. It was converted to office space in the post-war period. This site has been vacant since 1998. It was identified as surplus to Defence requirements in 2015.

The building is currently unused.

Significant maintenance, remediation, safety and security and heritage works were completed in December 2023.
