Originally a part of a much larger 47 hectare area, this site was established in 1941 for the Royal Australian Engineers. This site was more recently used as a Reserve and Cadet training facility. This site was declared surplus is 2017 and is currently vacant with divestment underway.

This site has been vacant since 2016. 

Many security incidents including unauthorised access and theft have resulted in costly repairs.

Victoria Barracks Sydney was established is 1840, with the main barracks complete in 1848. The barracks was originally occupied by the British Army. It is a significant heritage site.

The site houses Headquarters Forces Command and Headquarters 2nd Health Brigade, provides office space, a museum, live-in accommodation and a site for Cadet training.

Located in Dundas, near Parramatta, it is approximately 17km to the northwest of Sydney central business district. The barracks was established in 1968.

This site serves as a logistics support base for the Army Reserves and as a training facility for Cadets. Government will engage with existing tenants as part of the divestment process.

Functions

Spectacle Island was established in 1865. It was used to store gunpowder before subsequently being converted to store naval munitions. More recently, the site was used as a repository for the Navy history collection and a parade location for Navy Cadets.

The use of Spectacle Island was ceased in 2023.

This site has been vacant since 2023. Cadets have relocated to Cockatoo Island an the Navy historical collection has relocated temporarily to Banksmeadow Depot, 9km away, with a plan to move the collection to Randwick Barracks, 14.7km away.

Randwick Barracks is located in a residential area 7km south-east of Sydney's central business district. Established in 1891, the site was previously used for a rifle range and naval stores.

The estate audit recommended the partial divestment of this site as it is vacant land since 1990.

Approximately 15 km north of Penrith, the site was previously used as a high frequency radio transmitting station from 1940. Operations gradually decreased in the late 1990s and it has been closed since 2005.

Commissioned in 1942, HMAS Penguin is part of Navy Fleet Command. This site will be partially divested to retain the critical capability, with the exact portions to be finalised through the divestment process.

This site delivers Navy clearance diver, underwater medicine and maritime geospatial training, a Weapons Training Simulations System and live-in accommodation. 

Navy clearance diver training and an underwater medicine unit is critical capability.
