Originally a part of a much larger 47 hectare area, this site was established in 1941 for the Royal Australian Engineers. This site was more recently used as a Reserve and Cadet training facility. This site was declared surplus is 2017.

This site was divested in 2026. 

Many security incidents including unauthorised access and theft have resulted in costly repairs.

Approximately 15 km north of Penrith, the site was previously used as a high frequency radio transmitting station from 1940. Operations gradually decreased in the late 1990s and it has been closed since 2005. 

This site was declared surplus in 2024 and is currently undergoing divestment.

This site has been vacant since 2013.

Functions

Commissioned in 1942, HMAS Penguin is part of Navy Fleet Command. This site will be partially divested to retain the critical capability, with the exact portions to be finalised through the divestment process.

This site delivers Navy clearance diver, underwater medicine and maritime geospatial training, a Weapons Training Simulations System and live-in accommodation. 

Navy clearance diver training and an underwater medicine unit is critical capability.
