Deployable Defence Air Traffic Management and Control System

The AIR5431 Phase 1 Project is delivering a Deployable Defence Air Traffic Management and Control System (DDATMCS) comprising 2 mobile systems and one larger transportable system. Each of the three systems are made up of a mix of surveillance radars, shelters, Project Land 121 vehicles and associated electronic systems.

The DDATMCS will replace the Transportable Air Surveillance Radar (TASR) that was previously in service with the Royal Australian Air Force.

JORN Mid Life Upgrade

The AIR2025 Phase 6 project will deliver a comprehensive redesign and upgrade of the Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN). JORN consists of three high-frequency radars located at Longreach, Queensland, Alice Springs, Northern Territory and Laverton, Western Australia with an operations centre located at Edinburgh, South Australia.

Triton Remotely Piloted Aircraft System

The MQ-4C Triton is a High Altitude Long Endurance Remotely Piloted Aircraft System which will complement the P- 8A Poseidon maritime aircraft acquired under AIR 7000 Phase 2 as a ‘family of systems’.

The Triton aircraft will be home based at RAAF Base Tindal, with operations headquartered at RAAF Base Edinburgh by the reformed No.9 Squadron. The Triton will be capable of supporting missions of over 24 hours while covering an area of over one million square nautical miles; an area larger than Western Australia.
