Uncrewed Aerial Systems

CA49 encompasses 5 Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UASs) platform types designed to enhance the Australian Defence Force’s Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities. CA49 is expected to grow to approximately 10 platform types by 2025 based on current acquisition program goals.

The Shadow Tactical UAS is a large UAS operated by 20 Regiment Royal Australian Artillery. The Shadow is capable of long-endurance flights and carries advanced sensors for ISR and target acquisition missions.

Joint Data Networks

Joint Data Networks enhances command and control through the timely distribution and management of tactical and intelligent data between aircraft, ships, vehicles and ground nodes in order to improve situational awareness.

Communications Security Remediation

The Communications Security (COMSEC) Remediation project will remediate selected Australian Defence Force radios and encryption devices to meet upcoming algorithm obsolescence. This will ensure ongoing availability of secure communications in support of Defence operations, including through interoperability with key partner communications and intelligence networks.

Satellite Communications

Defence’s Military Satellite Communications (MILSATCOM) includes space, ground and control segment assets. This includes Protected, Wideband and Narrowband communications satellites and services, ground infrastructure across Australia and overseas, and network management capabilities. The various systems are sustained through arrangements with respective Industry partners and the United States Government.

Maritime Mining

The Australian Defence Force (ADF) will purchase new, smart sea mines to reinvigorate Defence’s maritime mining capability. The sea mines can be deployed from submarines, ships and aircraft.

Following market evaluation in 2022, RWM Italia was selected as the market leading solution to provide the capability. RWM Italia demonstrated the ability to produce the quantities of sea mines needed, and the technical capability to meet ADF strategic objectives.

About the base

Site activities are limited to predominantly office/administration. The nearest train stations are located at Town Hall and Museum Railway Station. The office is also a short distance to a number of Sydney Bus Services.

Access

Visitors are only permitted on site during visitor hours unless other arrangements have been made in advance.  There is no onsite parking however multiple commercial parking facilities are located in close proximity.

Smoking, including e-cigarettes and vapes, is prohibited in the entire facility.

 

About the base

Provides storage, maintenance and disposal of explosive ordnance along with ordnance training to meet Service capabilities

Access

Access past Checkpoint 2 and 3 is restricted and will require a specific pass and approval.

Any person booking a Taxi/Uber/Hire Car will be required to meet the driver at the front gate carpark.

Road rules

Speed limit is 40km/h throughout the Base unless otherwise signposted and not to exceed 10km/h when overtaking formed parties of military members.

About the base

Was originally developed by the United States of America during World War II as a Defence storage and warehouse facility. Currently houses major stores holdings.

Access

Prior to entering contractor areas all visitors are to report to the sign in point. When any contractor work areas during site hours sign in register must be completed at all reception areas.

7:30am - 4:30pm

Road rules

There is a lot of vehicle movement across this site, including forklifts, semi-trailers, trucks and defence vehicles.

About the base

Campbell Park Offices is a Department of Defence administrative centre. Base activities are limited to predominantly office/administration.

Access

All visitors are required to report to Building B and D access control desk in the foyer. Your host escort must be present to be issued with a Visitor Identification Card (VIC).
