Overview

The aim of the Facilities to Support Advanced Growler Phase 6 project is to provide new and upgraded facilities and infrastructure to enable integration and interoperability of EA-18G Advanced Growler capability at RAAF Base Amberley, Queensland, and Delamere Air Weapons Range, Northern Territory.

Community information

Defence recognises the importance of providing local residents, statutory authorities and other interested stakeholders with an opportunity to provide input into, or raise concerns relating to, the project.

As part of Defence’s ongoing community consultation strategy, federal and state parliamentary members, local office holders and a range of local community and industry groups and representatives will be consulted on the proposed works.

Community information sessions are scheduled to provide an opportunity to find out information about the project and ask questions.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works also invites public online submissions in relation to the project by Friday 8 March 2024. Further information is included on the Public Works Committee page.

Project details

The works include:

  • maintenance, logistics and storage upgrades at both bases to enable effective servicing of the new capability
  • training facilities to support enhanced operation of EA-18G Growler capability, including the ability to conduct joint training exercises and integrated training with other capabilities.

The project will employ a diverse range of consultants, contractors and construction workers, and is expected to generate opportunities for up-skilling and job training to improve individual skills and employability on future projects.

Subject to Parliamentary approval, design activities are expected to be completed by mid-2024. Construction is expected to commence in early to mid-2025 with completion expected in late 2026.
