Army History Research Grants recipients announced

Chief of the Australian Army, Lieutenant General Rick Burr, AO, DSC, MVO today announced the successful recipients of the 2020/21 Army History Research Grants Scheme (AHRGS).

Fourteen recipients will receive a combined total of $93,409 in Australian Government funding to support historical research into the Australian Army.

“I’d like to congratulate this year’s recipients and thank them for their contribution to further the understanding of Army’s history,” Lieutenant General Burr said.

“Projects funded this year include research into the role of Indigenous Service in the Army, the role of women in the Army and Army’s contributions in the Asia-Pacific region.”

The AHRGS has a proven track record of supporting research that leads to critically acclaimed publications, such as Surviving the Great War, by Aaron Pegram.

Established in 1993, the AHRGS is a competitive grants program that contributes funding to projects that add value to the current Army by addressing military strategy and operations, social history and heritage.

The grants demonstrate the Government’s continued support and recognition of the service and sacrifice of all Australian servicemen and women, past and present.
