Statement on security investigation

The Secretary of the Department of Defence has commenced a security investigation into the unauthorised disposal of security information by a senior Defence official.  The investigation will seek to determine the means by which the material became public and to assess the security implications. Given that the investigation is underway it is not appropriate for the Department to comment further at this time.
