Cyber Command recently marked its second anniversary, celebrating two years of growth and operational impact.

Established on March 25, 2024, Cyber Command has become a critical contributor to Australia’s cyber and information warfare capability.

As part of Joint Capabilities Group, the command supports Australian Defence Force operations and exercises by generating and delivering operational effects that strengthen Defence’s cyber capability.

Commander Cyber Command Major General Robert Watson reflected on the command’s growth.

“Our understanding of the cyber threat has grown, and more importantly, we have continued educating the ADF and the department on the evolving threat,” Major General Watson said.

Over the past 24 months, Cyber Command has participated in more than 130 activities domestically and offshore, delivering cyber and information warfare effects.

Command Warrant Officer Cyber Command, Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) Delwyn Jones, said adaptability and innovation had shaped the command’s approach.

“We are demonstrating what good looks like for an integrated workforce,” WO1 Jones said.

“Change is what a good technical workforce embraces.”

As Cyber Command continues to evolve, Major General Watson said the efforts of its diverse and skilled workforce were vital to the command’s success.

After two years of operation, Cyber Command continues to build capability, deepen understanding of the cyber threat environment and support Defence, positioned to evolve alongside the challenges of the future.
