HMAS Warramunga has arrived in Visakhapatnam, India, to participate in India’s International Fleet Review (IFR) and Exercise Milan.

The IFR and Milan are India’s most prominent multilateral maritime events, bringing together more than 130 countries and 86 ships and aircraft to promote shared security interests, enhance interoperability and reaffirm collective support for a global rules-based order.

This year’s program will include air, surface, subsurface and cross-deck exercises, alongside cultural and sporting engagements that strengthen people-to-people and navy-to-navy links. The schedule will also feature a formal fleet review conducted by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu.

Commanding Officer HMAS Warramunga Commander Ken Brown said the visit provided an important opportunity to work alongside regional partners and contribute to shared maritime security objectives.

“We are extremely proud to be here in Visakhapatnam, representing Australia and the Royal Australian Navy in India’s International Fleet Review,” Commander Brown said.

Warramunga’s participation in the IFR and Exercise Milan 2026 forms a key component of Australia’s broader regional engagement efforts, demonstrating Australia’s commitment to a stable, secure and resilient Indo Pacific.

“Exercises such as Milan provide an opportunity to strengthen Australia’s maritime relationship with India and deepen engagement with some of the many regional navies.”

In an impressive display of military capability, about 80 international ships are now at anchor off the coast of Visakhapatnam in neatly assigned rows.
