ADF Cycling made its presence felt at the 6 Squadron family day last month, held at RAAF Base Amberley, showing members and their families how cycling promotes fitness and teamwork, as well as the enjoyment of riding together in the ADF.
ADF Cycling members including Sergeant Adam Ware, Corporal Jessica Barry, Flight Lieutenant Rob Berrell, Leading Aircraftman Dylan Ford and Leading Aircraftman Ryan Campbell connected with attendees throughout the day, sharing insights on local rides, training and ways to get involved – whether as a weekend warrior, competitive racer or newcomer to the sport.
“Through ADF Cycling, I’ve connected with an amazing culture of like-minded riders across the services that share my passion for the sport,” Sergeant Ware said.
“It’s more than fitness – it’s about opportunities to build resilience, discipline and friendships.”
The team also promoted the upcoming 2025 ADF National Cycling Carnival, to be held at Stromlo Forest Park, Canberra, from November 12 to 20.
The event will feature all cycling disciplines, including mountain bike, e-bike, road and BMX racing. Coaching clinics will be available across all levels, from beginner to elite.
“Whether you’re aiming for a race win or simply riding for fun, the best part is belonging to an awesome community where everyone speaks the same language and uplifts each other,” Flight Lieutenant Berrell said.
Applications close September 26 for service categories 3-5 and October 10 for service categories 6-7. For more details and to join the ADF Cycling community, email australiandefence.forcecycling@defence.gov.au
