Fleet Logistics Hubs are rolling out across Navy to better support operations and personnel.
On July 1, three Fleet Logistics Hubs – East, West and North – replaced the existing Fleet Logistics Support Elements (FLSEs), delivering a unified, regionally coordinated support model aligned with the 2022 Fleet Command and Control Review.
The new Fleet Logistics Hubs incorporate FLSEs, embedded force-level logistics support, and Navy-managed messes, including hospitality and catering support.
Acting Director Fleet Logistics Commander Cath Crooks said the new model would enhance the agility and responsiveness of logistics support across the country.
“These hubs enhance fleet logistics services and workforce availability, positioning us to respond more effectively to regional priorities – from AUKUS activities in the west to Exercise Kakadu in the north – while maintaining strong support for day-to-day fleet operations,” Commander Crooks said.
“This change means fleet logistics support will change from a siloed, force-focused model to a fleet delivery model, projected from Support Force.”
Support Force is the cross-force enabler within Fleet whose purpose is to support the fleet and resident units.
“Our mission is to deliver shore-based capability and maritime support to meet strategic and operational objectives,” Commander Crooks said.
“This change demonstrates our commitment to a more integrated and mobile force, as outlined in the 2024 National Defence Strategy, aiming to reduce duplication and improve service delivery across establishments.”
A performance framework is also being developed to ensure consistent, accountable and high-quality support across the country.
The changes are part of a wider transformation to ensure Navy remains operationally ready, regionally engaged, and capable of supporting joint and allied operations into the future.
