Army takes spoils at interservice touch comp

29 May 2025

As the final whistle was blown, celebrations for Army began after winning the ADF Touch Association's interservice competition.

Scraping through with a tight win over Navy, 10-6, Army dominated the entire tournament.

Signaller Alexanda Hokins was top try scorer and Private Aaron Moss was best on ground across the two-day tournament.

Event manager Sergeant Carly Turner, of Headquarters 1 Brigade, said there was some great fresh talent.

“It’s fantastic to see the talent we have up here; players from interstate and local,” Sergeant Turner said.

“The teams played so well together, gelled and had good structure through the whole competition.

“With exercise season starting late due to the wet, we didn’t get as many teams as we wanted but will definitely pull in more players next year.”

With players from across all three services teaming up, their eyes are set on the next level within the sport.

“From here, we select teams for the Nationals held in Brisbane in September,” Sergeant Turner said.

“We generally take away one men’s open, one men’s 30s and one women’s open.”

Selections for the Defence Nationals teams will begin over the next couple of months.
