Strong Defence industry partnerships have been a critical element to the success and sustainment of the Air Force’s P-8A Poseidon platform.
Staff and technicians from Airbus Group Australia Pacific seamlessly integrate with Air Force personnel from No. 92 Wing to support the ongoing technical requirements of the P-8A fleet based at RAAF Base Edinburgh in South Australia.
Officer Commanding No. 92 Wing Group Captain John Grime said this partnership was a vital element that supported capability.
“It is the close collaboration of both 92 Wing personnel and Airbus Group staff that helps ensure the P-8A Poseidon fleet is mission-ready and provides joint effects in the maritime environment,” Group Captain Grime said.
“This ongoing partnership also promotes the sharing of ideas and encourages innovation, bringing highly skilled minds together working as one enterprise to deliver joint crucial operational effects.
“Fundamentally, it is a partnership that will ensure the P-8A platform remains strong, viable and sustainable into the future, so it can continue to make a significant contribution in its primary roles of anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, maritime surveillance and search and rescue.”
The P-8A Poseidon is a modern, potent and highly reliable aircraft based on the commercially proven Boeing B737-800, modified to incorporate the latest maritime surveillance and attack capabilities.
