Ceremonial performances by the Defence Band and Australia’s Federation Guard wowed spectators on the opening day of the Sydney Royal Easter Show on April 2 at the Giants Stadium.
Australia’s Federation Guard is a tri-service ceremonial unit made up of members from the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Army, and Royal Australian Air Force who were thrilled to take part in the entertainment line-up this year.
Lieutenant Sebastian Chee from the Royal Australian Navy said he was honoured to be a part of the celebration.
“This was my first ceremonial duty and the crowd was awe inspiring,” Lieutenant Chee said.
“The Australian Federation Guard didn’t get to travel much last year to due to COVID-19, I am glad that we are able to return to conducting our core role as the ceremonial face of the ADF.”
After being cancelled last year because of COVID-19, there was excitement in the air as the 60,000 attendees passed through the entry gates to join the celebrations.
The show will run until Monday and other military shows will be on offer, including the military working dogs and the Army funk and rock bands.
