Chief of the Defence Force General Angus Campbell has praised the work of personnel in supporting Operations Bushfire Assist, COVID-19 Assist and Fiji Assist.
During a visit to RAAF Base Amberley on February 10, General Campbell addressed members of No. 23 Squadron, Health Services Wing, No. 1 Combat Communications Squadron and No. 2 Security Forces Squadron.
“It takes an enormous amount of coordination and integrated effort by many people to get aircraft off the ground to fly missions and deliver equipment and supplies to where they are needed,” General Campbell said.
“RAAF Base Amberley has made, and continues to make, a very valuable contribution in supporting Australia and our near neighbours in times of need.
“You should be very proud of your efforts.”
General Campbell also spoke with a cross-section of personnel from the Air Mobility Group squadrons.
At the end of the visit, he presented Base Warrant Officer Amberley Warrant Officer Korey McGregor with a Silver Commendation for his “excellent achievement in the application of leadership and professionalism” as the Precinct Warrant Officer in Task Group 633.17 during Operation Accordion in 2020.
General Campbell also travelled to Gallipoli Barracks to observe 2nd/14th Light Horse Regiment (Queensland Mounted Infantry) personnel conduct driver training with the Australian Army’s new 8x8 Boxer combat reconnaissance vehicle at the Greenbank Military Training Area.
