The Defence Force Design team has won the 2020 International Cost Estimating and Analysis Association (ICEAA) Team Achievement Award for its work in the development of the 2020 Force Structure Plan.
The award recognises the outstanding contributions of members to improve cost estimating and analysis in government, industry and academia.
The Team Achievement of the Year award recognises a team effort that significantly impacts on the relevant mission or influenced a crucial decision through the use of cost analysis.
Head of Force Design Division Air Vice Marshal Steven Roberton said the accomplishments of the Force Design team demonstrated an impressive convergence of talented individuals and powerful predictive analytic cost solutions.
“The cooperation necessary in a team to deliver almost 200 researched and assessed whole-of-life cost estimates for projects and proposals with limited time, resources and data is commendable,” Air Vice Marshal Roberton said.
“This included re-prioritisation of existing capability projects and the programming of new projects into Australia’s Defence acquisition budget.”
Across an international team, the effective deployment of processes and tools along with training benefited Defence in the short term and promises to continue to benefit the Department as it is applied to future requirements.
Vice Chief of the Defence Force Vice Admiral David Johnston said the Force Design team embodied the spirit and essence of the ICEAA Team Achievement of the Year Award.
"I congratulate the members of this innovative team for this well-deserved international recognition of achievement,” he said.
