ADF medical technicians are making a difference while on Operation COVID-19 Assist in Victoria.
One of these technicians is Sergeant Nicola Emsley, an instructor at the Army School of Health in Albury.
Along with many of her students, Sergeant Emsley is supporting the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services in Shepparton.
She said she was proud of the work her team was doing.
“It has been hard teaching remotely but I am proud the recruits are already making a difference in Victoria,” Sergeant Emsley said.
“A lot of the training was online to comply with social distancing requirements.”
Sergeant Emsley said some of the medical technicians she had trained were now supporting testing as first-aid testers or by completing contract-tracing paperwork.
“Medical training has stayed essential and I am glad medical technicians I was teaching are now deployed all over Victoria,” she said.
Sergeant Emsley recently moved to Albury from Melbourne, where she plays rugby union for the Melbourne Rebels Super Rugby.
“I am missing rugby and my family but I’m staying busy and know I am making a real difference,” she said.
