Applying for a work experience placement is easy. If students, parents or educators require any assistance email defence.workexperienceprogram@defence.gov.au.
Find a placement
Individual work experience placements and their details are listed on the Defence Work Experience Program recruitment website.
Each placement includes an information pack that describes the experience available, the eligibility and assessment criteria.
Students must find a placement that interests them, that is available at the right place and time.
Submit an application
Application forms must be submitted online prior to the closing date. Students must create an account and complete the online form, uploading all mandatory attachments. The form can be previewed in advance to help students prepare.
Once the application is received an acknowledgement e-mail will be sent to the student.
Accept the agreement
If an application is accepted the students school will be notified in writing and the student will receive an email containing the Work Experience Placement Agreement form.
To accept the work experience placement offer the Work Experience Placement Agreement must be completed, signed by all parties and returned to Defence, prior to the due date.
Receive confirmation
A placement is only confirmed once the signed agreement has been approved and endorsed by Defence.
Once the agreement is approved by Defence, the student's school will be provided with a copy of the approved Work Experience Placement Agreement and joining instructions for the student.
Withdraw
To withdraw and application a student must:
- Login to the online application form and select 'withdraw'.
- Email defence.workexperienceprogram@defence.gov.au noting an agreement reference number.
