Logistics involves planning and executing the movement and support of forces.

This is critical to the Defence mission and the capability lifecycle. There are a variety of roles to suit those who are interested to become highly skilled logisticians.

Employees in logistics have the opportunity to provide integrated logistics support to some of Defence’s major platforms like the Joint Strike Fighter or Future Frigates. This could see employees working anywhere from the concept stage of a new project at the start of the capability life cycle (acquisition), through to transition into service, sustainment, upgrades and disposal. As a Materiel Logistician, employees could have unique opportunities to work on some of the largest and most challenging acquisition and sustainment projects in Australia.

Joining Defence as a logistics specialist means contributing to the core of Defence operations, enabling the Australian Defence Force to defend Australia and its national interests by steadfast delivery of agile and robust military logistics.

Employees’ skills are essential as Defence embarks on a transformation journey to modernise a unified Defence Logistics Enterprise (DLE) that continuously improves to strengthen Defence capability to shape, deter and respond.

DLE enables successfully planning and conducting operations as directed by Defence and Government to protect Australia’s national interests, respond to disasters and emergencies at home and abroad, as well as achieving Australia’s strategic objectives.
