The NSW Premier’s Flood Emergency Citation 2022–2023 recognises the exceptional service and resilience demonstrated by volunteers and staff from emergency service organisations, Defence force personnel, eligible community-based organisations, and spontaneous volunteers who played a significant role in responding to the floods. These floods affected many parts of the state between November 2021 and March 2023.

The Citation aims to recognise those who responded immediately during the emergency, with a direct response to protecting life and properties. The activities undertaken must include at least one or more of the following:

• front-line operational response
• incident management
• incident support.

The Citation is a non-Defence award administered by the NSW State Emergency Service on behalf of the Premier of New South Wales.

The Citation is approved for restricted wear and can only be worn on service uniform when attending an official event of the NSW Government. The citation pin may be worn on the right lapel of civilian attire at any time.

Defence are responsible for submitting Defence lists for assessment.
