Roles & Responsibilities

Estate & Infrastructure Group (E&IG) is one of three enabling groups within the Chief Operating Officer Organisation (COO). The COO was established to deliver integrated corporate services that support the effective delivery of core capabilities for Defence.As part of the COO, Defence Support and Reform will continue to improve the way it does business, increase effectiveness of service delivery and ensure the most effective use of the Defence budget in delivery of Defence support services.

Service Delivery Division (SDD) is a service provider of essential on-the-ground services and support to Defence personnel throughout Australia. SDD has the following roles:

  • to deliver products and services in support of Defence customers;
  • to deliver, on behalf of the whole of Estate & Infrastructure Group, the base accountabilities and base support arrangements through Base Support Managers;
  • to provide product management for those products and services delivered by the division; and
  • to provide common customer access to all of Estate & Infrastructure Group products and services, though the customer access channels – face-to-face via Customer Service Centres, on the phone via Defence Service Centre, or online.

Infrastructure Division (ID) is responsible for the development and management of the Defence estate. The division operates one of the largest real estate portfolios in Australia. The estate consists of over three million hectares of land and 25,000 assets. Infrastructure Division also has portfolio responsibility for environment and heritage management, policy development and legislative compliance.
