The Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF) replaced the Defence Security Manual (DSM) on 2 July 2018. The move to the principles-based framework aligns Defence to the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and Information Security Manual (ISM).
The DSPF provides principles, controls and instructions to support Defence personnel, Contractors, Consultants and Outsourced Service Providers, to manage security risks.
To support the transition to the DSPF, Defence has implemented a grandfathering arrangement to cover references made to the DSM in existing contracts until 30 June 2019. From 1 July 2019, all DSM references in contracts will be treated as references to the DSPF.
