Applications that require full review by the Departments of Defence and Veterans’ Affairs Human Research Ethics Committee (DDVA HREC) must be submitted by 1 pm AEST on the submission closing dates. Out-of-session reviews, including applications for lower risk research and quality assurance and evaluation activities, can be submitted at any time.

Applications will be acknowledged within 3 business days and an administrative review will be undertaken. The applicant will be advised if further information is required prior to consideration by DDVA HREC.

Following review of a research proposal, DDVA HREC may request further information. The ethical review outcome letter will advise on whether the resubmission requires consideration: 

• at a scheduled meeting and be subject to the closing dates above
• at an out-of-session review.
