Overview
This United Nations Military Staff Officer course (UNSOC) is a prerequisite for Australian Defence Force personnel deploying as a United Nations’ military staff officer or within an Australian Headquarters supporting a United Nations’ mission.
The format of the training includes three weeks of classroom study concluding with a staff exercise. All training is conducted in the Canberra region of the Australian Capital Territory.
- UNSOC session 1: 21 September – 7 October 2026
- UNSOC session 2: 10 – 26 May 2027
Learning outcomes
The training prepares personnel for roles as a staff officer within multi-national or United Nations’ peace operations headquarters. This course is suitable and recommended for Australian Federal Police or Australian Public Servants who will deploy within a United Nations or mission headquarters environment.
