Overview

This United Nations Comprehensive Protection of Civilians course (CPOC) combines aspects of POC, Child Protection and Conflict-Related Sexual Violence for military peacekeepers at the tactical level in UN peacekeeping operations.

The format of the training includes one week of classroom study. 

Learning outcomes

This programme combines elements of each of the three subject matter areas into an overall approach to tactical level protection issues.  It includes a protection threat assessment process to inform planning and to strengthen participants’ understanding how POC, Child Protection and Conflict-Related Sexual Violence considerations affect military planning processes at the tactical level.

Prerequisites

  • English Language Skills (ADFELPS L6, S6, R6, W6; IELTS L5.5, S5.5, R5.5, W5.5)
  • UN Core Pre-Deployment Training Materials

     

Audience

ADF | Other Government agencies | International military

Selected ADF and International Officers E8-O6 deploying on UN Missions as a staff officer or in a tactical unit headquarters role. Suitable for Australian Federal Police deploying to a UN Mission as an individual officer in a headquarters environment.
