The Defence Environment Manual sets out requirements for sustainable environmental management across Defence’s estate and activities, enabling capability while minimising harm to the environment. This document also applies to all Defence activities outside the Defence estate, in Australia and overseas.
This manual supports the implementation of the Defence Environment Strategy, Defence Net Zero Strategy, Defence Future Energy Strategy, Defence Estate Heritage Strategy and related policies. Environmental outcomes are also achieved by other Defence Groups and Services through environmental management systems and plans tailored to the relevant organisational or operational domains.
The manual applies to all Defence personnel and partners.
