Transition from the Australian Defence Force (ADF) is a process every member and their family will experience at some point in their career.
It is important for a member and their family to be informed about the transition options and support available. A member should:
- discuss transition with their chain of command
- discuss transition with their family and support people
- consider options within the ADF, including:
- transferring to a different Service
- continuing service in the Reserves
- attend an ADF member and family Transition Seminar.
- become aware of the costs of living civilians pay that ADF members receive as part of their conditions of service.
Transition Preparedness Questionnaire
Defence recognises that there are 9 broad factors that may impact an individual’s wellbeing in service, in transition and into civilian life.
Defence seeks to positively influence all wellbeing factors either directly or by ensuring individuals are connected to relevant Australian community resources.
The Transition Preparedness Questionnaire supports ADF personnel to develop transition preparedness and maintain wellbeing throughout the transition journey.
By completing the Transition Preparedness Questionnaire, ADF personnel and those who support their transition are better informed of their transition circumstances and support needs.
ADF personnel, Defence families and support persons are encouraged to review the sample Transition Preparedness Questionnaire when considering transition from service or a change in service category.
Once ADF personnel commence transition, they will receive a link to complete the Transition Preparedness Questionnaire online.
