Preparing for a posting can be an exciting time for Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel and their families. However, it can also bring questions, decisions and adjustments, particularly when moving to a regional or remote location.
To support Defence families through the relocation process, there will be a series of virtual information sessions provided throughout September and October 2026 to help families prepare for their next posting and settle into a new community with confidence.
Each virtual session is delivered by the local Defence Member and Family Support (DMFS) Area Office to provide valuable insights into life at each posting location and the services covered, including:
- housing and relocation
- education and childcare
- health and wellbeing support
- partner employment opportunities and support
- local services and amenities
- community connections
- lifestyle and recreation opportunities
- DMFS services.
Participants will also hear local insights and experiences from Defence families already living in the community.
Defence personnel and their families preparing for a posting in 2026 are encouraged to register.
For enquiries or further information contact the local Area Office.
