The Methodology of English Language Teaching Course is a ten week course for individuals with little or no previous experience as English Language teachers. The Course aims to develop basic English language teaching skills including the confident use of English for classroom management. It provides participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to teach up to the Australian Defence Force English Language Profiling System Level Six.
The English Teaching Development Course is a ten week course to enhance the teaching skills of experienced English language teachers. Participants gain an understanding of teaching general English as a foreign language to higher level students. Participants will also develop knowledge and skills for teaching English for Specific Purposes, the development of teaching materials and the management of training delivery including the supervision of teachers. This course is highly recommended for English language teaching course planners and for those in teacher supervisory roles.
The English Curriculum Development Course is a four week course delivered upon a “as required” basis for selected Defence Cooperation Program education officers. The Course prepares education officers for the design of specific English language curriculum in a local context.
The Teaching Pronunciation Course is a five and a half week course to enhance the teaching skills of English language teachers. The Course focuses on developing effective pronunciation teaching techniques for incorporation into lessons from beginner to intermediate level. It has a practical focus providing regular opportunities for students to develop a range of techniques and confidence in dealing with pronunciation issues.
A pre-requisite for attendance on this course is the completion of the Methodology of English Language Teaching Course, currently a classroom teacher and will continue to teach upon completion of this course.
The ADF English Language Profiling System Rater Training Course is a two week course to familiarise participants with the administration and conduct of ADF English Language Profiling System (ADFELPS) language testing. Graduates will develop an understanding of ADFFELPS testing and its application to support student selection for courses. In particular, students will learn how to mark the reading and listening tests; conduct and rate the speaking and written tests and gain skills to administer and report test results.
