The Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) Group is dedicated to delivering the Government’s vision of a domestic-assured GWEO Enterprise to support Australia’s defence and security.
The Group’s priorities are to:
- establish domestic manufacturing of select GWEO
- develop and deliver GWEO capabilities, especially long-range strike
- increase GWEO stockpiles.
The blueprint for this transformative uplift in local industry capability and industrial resilience is the Australian Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance Plan.
Divisions
Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance Manufacturing Division
The GWEO Manufacturing Division is responsible for the sponsorship and delivery of GWEO domestic manufacturing.
Working with domestic and international industry partners, the division’s projects contribute to:
- developing a sovereign ability to produce, maintain, repair and overhaul select weapons
- increasing Australian Defence Force (ADF) preparedness and national resilience by establishing domestic manufacture of key components and weapons systems
- strengthening Australia’s contribution to the international munitions base it shares with trusted partners
- enabling Australian companies to contribute to the design and manufacture of a wider range of GWEO components and types.
Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance Systems Division
The GWEO Systems Division is responsible for the managing the full capability life cycle of GWEO across Defence, including acquisition, sustainment, and disposal. The division is the single point of accountability for bringing GWEO into service for the ADF.
The division delivers joint force effector capabilities, such as:
- overseeing explosive ordnance maintenance
- leading the development of the ADF Weapons Capability Roadmap
- driving remediation of GWEO preparedness
- enabling GWEO capability elements to ensure operational effectiveness.
