Chris Crozier

Mr Chris Crozier was appointed Chief Information Officer of the Department of Defence in August 2023 and leads the Defence Digital Group. In August 2026, he was also appointed Defence's Chief Artificial Intelligence (AI) Officer. He is responsible for delivering a modern, secure and sustainable ICT environment that supports Defence business and military operations, including Defence’s computing and telecommunications networks, cyber security capability, military and business applications, and communications standards and spectrum required for key warfighting networks.

Before joining Defence, Mr Crozier was Group Chief Information Officer for Orica International, with responsibility for global digital technology strategy and operations across 120 countries. He has also held senior executive positions with Orica and BHP, including Chief Digital Officer, Global Vice President Supply Chain, Global Chief Information Officer and Global Chief Procurement Officer. A 35-year veteran of the mining and resources sector, Mr Crozier began his professional career as a Research Engineer with Rio Tinto.
