Haberfield Army Reserve Depot

The former Haberfield Army Reserve Depot is surplus to Defence requirements. The property will be divested in accordance with the Commonwealth Property Disposal Policy.

The property is 1.9 hectare located at 140A Hawthorne Parade in the suburb of Haberfield, Sydney.

December 2023

Civil works for the 22 lot subdivision of 140A Hawthorne Parade, Haberfield is completed, along with independent certification approval. Defence is in the process of obtaining Inner West Council (Council) endorsement to proceed with title registration.

The 21 lots are intended for future residential development and one further lot to be transferred to Council for community open space. Defence intends to market 17 lots onto the open-market in early 2024.

In January 2022, Defence completed all necessary due diligence to address possible alternate uses for the site in accordance with the Commonwealth Property Disposal Policy. No viable alternate use suggestions were made or identified.

Defence is committed to maintaining and preserving the security and integrity of the site until it transitions from Commonwealth ownership.
