Community engagement was held in Canberra on 22 May 2026. Feedback from the session highlighted several key themes including divestment timeframes, land use zoning and the wellbeing benefits the site provides to current users. Community feedback is assisting with transition planning and future use options.

Fairbairn golf course was established in the 1960s.

This site is operated as a public golf course by way of a licence agreement with a civilian operator. Government will engage with existing tenants as part of the divestment process.
