The Sexual Misconduct Prevention and Response Office (1800 SeMPRO) provides immediate and confidential support and advice to persons impacted by sexual misconduct.

1800 SeMPRO services can be accessed by:

• current or ex-serving Australian Defence Force (ADF) members
• current Defence Australian Public Service employees
• current Defence contractors
• current ADF cadets, Instructors and Officers of cadets
• commanders, managers, colleagues, friends, and family members. 

Support and advice is confidential and accessible without needing to make a report to Defence, the military police or civilian police. Clients may choose to remain anonymous.

Support is customised to each client's unique needs. Assistance with strategies is provided, such as how to help support a friend or approach a difficult conversation in order to promote the wellbeing of everyone involved.

1800 SeMPRO can help with navigating Defence and civilian healthcare and legal services. Clients are guided and supported through reporting, investigation, and legal proceedings as desired. Investigative services are not provided.

Services are available via phone and email from any location; wherever clients feel most comfortable.

ADF Class Action

In October 2025, a class action was filed in the Federal Court of Australia against the Commonwealth of Australia under the Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth) (Class Action). The Class Action has been brought on behalf of women who served in the ADF at any point between 13 November 2003 and 25 May 2025 who seek compensation in relation to sexual harassment, harassment on the grounds of sex, discrimination in employment and victimisation.
