The Sexual Misconduct Prevention and Response Office (SeMPRO) provides immediate and confidential help to all Defence personnel. Any current or ex-serving Australian Defence Force (ADF) member, Australian Public Service employee, Defence contractor, ADF cadet, instructor or officer of ADF cadets, commander, manager, colleague, friend, or family member who has been impacted by sexual misconduct is welcome to contact SeMPRO. Our SeMPRO social workers and psychologists are available to assist 24/7.

Support resources for people impacted by sexual misconduct

Defence encourages people to seek help and support wherever they feel most comfortable. Support services are available internal to Defence as well as through national, state and territory, and community-based services.

If you are assisting or managing an person impacted by sexual misconduct, you can increase their ability to access help by providing the details on the options available to them.

SeMPRO’s confidential services are client-focused and support each person’s unique needs. Clients determine the amount of information they share. Callers may choose to remain anonymous if they wish. The Client Response Team can assist with strategies, such as how to help support a friend or approach a difficult conversation, in order to promote the wellbeing of everyone involved.

Our Client Response Team are health professionals with significant experience helping people experiencing trauma. We can help to navigate Defence and civilian health care and support services. SeMPRO is not an investigation service but can guide and support clients through reporting, investigation, and legal proceedings.

SeMPRO’s services are accessible without making a report to Defence, the military police, or civilian police.
