Maritime sustainability allowance

Maritime sustainability allowance encourages you to return to sea.

Who can get maritime sustainability allowance?

You may be eligible for maritime sustainability allowance if you are a member of the:

  • Permanent Forces
  • Reserves on continuous full-time service, or
  • Reserves on Reserve service.

How much maritime sustainability allowance can I get?

You may get either an annual rate or a daily rate of allowance. This depends on whether you're posted to a:

  • a major fleet unit (this includes a seagoing ship)
  • a minor war vessel
  • a seagoing submarine
  • a shore establishment for service in a vessel as named above, or
  • Sea Training Group for service in a vessel as named above.

It also depends on how long you must stay on board the vessel.

Can I get other allowances at the same time?

If you get for maritime sustainability allowance you may also get maritime disability allowance.

You can't get maritime sustainability allowance if you hold a position in the Amphibious Ready Element.
