You may get maritime disability allowance to make up for the special demands that you face while serving at sea.

You must stay on board that vessel for a specified minimum time frame.
If you have a break of 48 hours or less between two periods of maritime service, you don’t need to requalify.
If you stay on shore during the course of a voyage, this doesn't break the qualifying period.
You may get either an annual rate or a daily rate of allowance. This depends on the service location and how long you are required to stay on board the vessel.
If you get maritime disability allowance, you may not get other allowances at the same time. This includes:
If you get travelling costs, you can't get a daily rate of maritime disability allowance.
If you get Antarctic allowance and maritime disability allowance at the same time, you get whichever rate is higher.
