Star ranked officers - additional benefits

As a star rank officer, you may get additional benefits. These benefits:

  • recognise and reward your contribution at the star rank level
  • reflect current management practices, and
  • encourage you to remain at star rank.

Who can get additional benefits?

You may get additional benefits if you are a member of the:

  • Permanent Forces
  • Reserves on continuous full-time service, or
  • Reserves on Reserve service.

and you are

  • at the substantive rank of Brigadier or higher.

You may also get additional benefits if you hold a temporary or acting star rank for four weeks in a row or more.

Which benefits can I get?

You may get:

  • membership of an airline club
  • mobile or other handheld device
  • executive vehicle allowance, and/or
  • parking space or permit.

You may get an annual or a pro rata rate of executive vehicle allowance.

You may have to contribute to your parking space or permit.

When can't I get additional benefits?

If you are a member of the Reserves, you can't get mobile phone or handheld device allowance unless:

  • you have 100 days of planned Reserve service, and
  • your commanding officer or manager approves the benefit.

You can’t get executive vehicle allowance if you:

  • hold the rank of Lieutenant General or higher, or
  • use a special Defence vehicle for your command appointment.

If you get executive vehicle allowance, you can't get vehicle allowance.
