Sitting within the Australian Defence Export Office, Team Defence Australia is the premier national platform for export-capable Australian defence and dual-use companies to showcase their goods, services, technology and solutions at international trade events.
Team Defence Australia works with defence industry, the Centre for Defence Industry Capability (CDIC), Austrade and state and territory governments to help prepare Australian delegation’s attendance at overseas trade shows and ensure they maximise their international exposure. The CDIC supports Team Defence Australia by managing expressions of interest and leveraging relationships with prime companies through the Global Supply Chain program.
Attending an overseas trade show or participating in a trade mission with Team Defence Australia is a cost-effective option for eligible companies looking to export their products and services, benchmark themselves internationally or research their competitors. Team Defence Australia procures the floor space and builds the exhibition stand, with companies only needing to finance their flights and accommodation.
“Team Defence Australia (TDA) is a huge asset for Australian businesses trying to gain recognition in global export markets. Taking part in the TDA missions and being part of the TDA environment provides significant benefits including access to international markets and introductions to potential customers that you would not be able to achieve as an individual business.
One significant advantage of the program is having support at international trade shows. These events can be very daunting for new SME’s exploring overseas opportunities, but TDA take the stress out of the equation so that SMEs can focus on creating business opportunities. They provide support for everything that we need, including trade show infrastructure, on-the-ground support, market briefings, introductions and business networking. The networking with other Australian SMEs can also be incredibly valuable in terms of achieving greater outcomes via collaboration and shared resources.
Over the last few years, HTA has gained substantial benefits from TDA participation at defence trade shows. The connections we have made at these events has resulted in new contracts and increased industry recognition, benefits that we would not have achieved without the support of TDA.”
Team Defence Australia (TDA) is closely monitoring the impact of COVID-19 on international defence trade shows.
In addition to event organisers' decisions to cancel or postpone, TDA’s decision to participate in trade shows will be based on government advice provided through Smartraveller, as well as any travel-related restrictions and/or implications both for the host nation and on return to Australia.
Participants are expected to conduct their own risk assessment and determine how best to obtain value from attending trade shows as well as how to manage health risks.

Companies are selected to participate in Defence delegations based on their product offerings and proven track record in line with the domain or focus of each event.
Expressions of interest (EOI) for these events are made available through the Australian Defence Export Office Industry Capability Network (ICN) page. Companies will need to register on ICN in order to submit an EOI.
Expressions of interest for these events are advertised in the CDIC newsletter. Register for the CDIC newsletter to keep up-to-date with events.
