Lieutenant Alexander (Alex) Jack is an Infantry Platoon Commander in the fifth Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment of the Australian Army. Prior to transferring to infantry in 2017, Lieutenant Jack served as a Royal Australian Army Ordinance Corps officer in the 1st Combat Service Support Battalion and 176 Air Dispatch.

Alex rowed for Scotch Oakburn College and Tamar Rowing Club throughout high school as well as the Tasmanian U23 Youth Cup Team. Lieutenant Jack continued rowing at the Australian Defence Force Academy, winning the Disher Cup and serving as Captain of Boats. At the Royal Military College – Duntroon, Lieutenant Jack was President of Rowing but he hasn’t spent much time on the water since being posted to Darwin.

Lieutenant Jack was motivated to try out for the 2019 King’s Cup Team due to the historical importance the race has for the sport of rowing, coupled with the prestige of having the opportunity to represent the Australian Defence Force in his chosen sport and race at the Royal Henley Regatta.
