EU12 - Maintain Estate Identifier Labelling and Signage

Estate Items on the Defence Estate include Buildings, Building Level, Space, Infrastructure, Infrastructure System, Equipment and Equipment System. All estate items are to have a sign or label affixed in accordance with the Estate & Infrastructure Group Signage and Labelling Standard (SLS).

The EMOS is to maintain Estate Identifier Labelling and Signage. The EMOS contractor is responsible to maintain labels and other identifiers on all estate items that are ‘In Service’. The EMOS is to label any In Service estate items within 14 days of commissioning or discovery. The EMOS cannot be held responsible for labelling of estate items by 3rd parties e.g. CFI, PDS projects.

The estate construction and refurbishment delivery contractor is to affix the appropriate sign or label to all applicable Estate Elements.

All labels and or signage must be legible and located on the estate item. Where impractical, the label or sign shall be placed in the immediate vicinity and within easy view for conduct of operations and maintenance activities. Guidance on the location of signage or labelling can be found in the SLS Attachment 1 – Labelling Instructions

The requirements for provision of unique identifiers are included in the EMOS Estate Upkeep Service Definition Table.

Note: Projects are responsible for labelling estate elements delivered by the project and is undertaken IAW HOTO Plan & Checklist (Project Lifecycle Criteria Instructions 5.5.3, 5.5.4, 5.7.2 & 5.10.2).
