Welcome to the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) website. As an institution within the Australian Defence College, ADFA provides foundation and specialist education for members of the Australian Defence Organisation and selected international officers. Additionally, ADFA is home to Australia’s Federation Guard (AFG), our Defence Force’s tri-service ceremonial capability. Their professional conduct of military ceremonial services promotes the ADF in a positive light at many ceremonies both in Australia and throughout the world.
Established in 1986, the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) plays an important role in training and educating the future leaders of our Navy, Army and Air Force. As our pre-eminent tri-service military training institution, it is of paramount importance to invest wisely in the training and education of the men and women who are responsible for building capability in our Defence Force and leading the men and women who serve.
The role of ADFA has expanded over the years and today includes the Capability Technology and Management College, Defence Force Chaplains College and AFG.
ADFA’s contractual and partnering relationship with UNSW Canberra is a critical element to the success of ADFA. Their world class education services add significantly to the prestige associated with studying at ADFA, whether that is as an undergraduate or postgraduate student. The highly skilled military and academic staff are committed to working as a team to support and enable all at ADFA people to lead and excel.
At ADFA our intent is to be the institution of choice when it comes to military, academic and cultural training. Graduates of ADFA are equipped with the knowledge and skills to be the best they can be professionally and personally. To achieve this we focus on values based character development, based on the Academy values of Courage, Respect, Integrity, Service and Professionalism.
