| Overview of Placement: | A program of mainly indoor activities providing participants with an insight into a wide range of Navy Band activities from 7.30am to 3.30pm each day. Because of the diverse nature of band activities there are times when the band will perform on weekends and in the evenings. Participants will be encouraged to attend these performances. Participants will have the opportunity to observe the diverse roles of a Naval Musician, and to experience a range of music related activities under the close supervision of highly professional Naval personnel. Insights into wind orchestra, ceremonial parade band, big band and smaller ensemble rehearsals and performances are offered. Some informal individual tuition may be available. |
| Special Conditions of Placement: | Applicant must have a strong interest in music, preferably be studying music at school and considering a career as a professional musician. Additionally the applicant must be competent on a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument to a level commensurate to AMEB Grade 6-7 or equivalent. There are also opportunities for guitarists, bass guitarists, pianists and vocalists. ALL applicants must be able to read music fluently. Applicants should state on their application form what instrument they play and approximately what standard they have achieved.
